LED-based Acne Therapy, approved by the FDA July 2006, makes the skin inhospitable for acne-causing bacteria.

"[Blue light treatment] is a major breakthrough and could be an excellent alternative for those patients who have had minimal success with traditional therapies…" -- Dr. Arielle N.B. Kauvar

When the gentle blue light of the LED interacts with blemished skin, singlet oxygen is created.  Singlet oxygen then attacks bacteria and removes pH gradients, inhibiting the spread of acne.

In clinical studies more than 86% of participants averaged 76% acne reduction.  Six treatment sessions of about 20 minutes each over two weeks, and then two treatments per week for four weeks is recommended.  Each individual is different, so total number of treatments may vary.

LED is a technological breakthrough, making it a cost-effective alternative to drug treatment without the negative side effects.
